A Thanksgiving Message to Our Community
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As the season of gratitude fills the air and the first snow graces our beautiful corner of Vermont, I find myself deeply thankful for the power of this incredible community. We are blessed to live among caring, devoted people who are committed to building a bright future for generations to come.
On this day of Thanksgiving, let us celebrate not only the warmth of family and friendship but also the strength of a community that supports one another. Yet, as we gather around our tables, it’s important to remember that not everyone has the shelter or nourishment they need to truly feel part of this day of celebration.
This Thanksgiving, I ask that we recommit ourselves to supporting the local organizations that work tirelessly to care for our most vulnerable neighbors. Groups like the Community Food Cupboard, the Bennington County Coalition for the Homeless, the Interfaith Council of the Northshire, and Bennington County Habitat for Humanity provide essential services and hope to those who need it most.
As a community, we must also commit to addressing the greater need for equitable housing opportunities for all. Here in the Northshire, we face the highest level of housing disparity in the state, with too many of our neighbors in danger of losing their homes. This issue is urgent, and we have the collective power to make meaningful change by prioritizing and advocating for solutions that ensure safe, stable, and affordable housing for everyone.
I am also personally thankful for the opportunity to serve this community on the Manchester Selectboard. It has been an honor to represent you, to listen to your voices, and to help shape the future of our Town. I look forward to all the progress we will make together as we continue to strengthen our community.
When we all thrive, we can truly be thankful for the gift our community has to share in its greatness. Let’s come together to ensure that everyone—regardless of their current circumstances—can feel the warmth and compassion that makes this community so special.
Thank you for your generosity, your commitment, and your belief in the power of community. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyous and peaceful Thanksgiving.
With gratitude,
Jonathan West
