Letter to the Editor: Supporting Jonathan West for Selectboard

It is an honor to submit this letter in support of Jonathan West’s candidacy for the Manchester Select Board. Sadly I will be unable to vote for Jon as I now reside in Dorset.

I served as Burr and Burton’s headmaster while Jon was a student there. Through countless conversations, backpacking trips to Adirondack high peaks and mostly through observation, I came to know Jon very well. He was and is a remarkable individual. Jon has a generosity of spirit, a kind and caring nature and passion to improve the lives of others. He is a natural leader and would be an incredible asset to the people of Manchester. He strongly believes in solving the housing crisis in town where regular Vermonters are repeatedly priced out of the real estate market. When I was at BBA, it was a real challenge to find housing for recently hired teachers and that was over 15 years ago! The situation today is far worse. Jon knows this and will be an active voice on the Selectboard to solve this real problem.

In short, Jonathan West has my full endorsement to become a member of the Selectboard. The residents of Manchester will be happy to have this thoughtful, remarkable man pulling for them.
