Letter to the Editor: Vote Jonathan West for Selectboard
To write a letter of support for my son, Jonathan West, is a labor of love. Since the day we welcomed him into the world, Pam and I have known that our son is a very special human being!
When faced with challenges, Jon has faced them with a steadfast determination and positivity which has characterized his success in all his endeavors. He has always been someone who could figure out a way to get things done.
His demeanor bears a striking similarity to his late grandfather, native Manchesterite John West, a charismatic "legend" from the Greatest Generation of WWII veterans. Well known for his good deeds and infectious personality, Jonathan is well on his way to check all those boxes as well.
My 20 years of service to our town showed Jon early that a community can only be as good as its citizens' participation. His desire to work hard for Manchester is from generations of our family, all with the express desire to serve their beloved Manchester. At BBA, he planned and organized the annual Manchester Loyalty Day Parade, earning him the Community Service Award at graduation. And at 21, directed the first effort to place American flags on utility poles in Manchester after 9/11.
Jon and his husband Thomas adopted four children in need from birth and have raised them with love and compassion. When anyone has four children from the age of 2 to 8, you can bet it takes every bit of attention one can muster to manage their daily lives. Jon does it with devotion and love and with every part of his soul thrown in.
He can listen, assess, and act on problems with the best of them. He is not in it to gain personally, he simply loves his hometown and wants to sit at the table and discuss our problems and help bring consensus solutions. That is the way a democracy should work.
A vote for Jonathan West for Selectboard is a vote you will be glad you made.
